Susan is an award-winning journalist,
author, and professionally trained chef,
who has lived in France for nearly 20
years and has her own cooking school,
On Rue Tatin, in the heart of Normandy.
She is the author of eight books about
food and cooking, and is a frequent contributor
to American food and cooking magazines.
She began her publishing career with
Patricia, during the research and writing
of The Food Lover’s Guide To Paris.
Susan will welcome her guests to a
five-day, hands-on, secret and technique-rich
cooking experience at Patricia’s
Paris studio, which is located on the
charming Rue Jacob in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Près
on the Left Bank.
Guests will cook with the best, locally
produced ingredients, carefully procured
in Paris markets and on farms in Susan’s
Norman neighborhood. Each day will have
its own theme: seafood, chocolate, cheese,
wine, vegetables.
Susan will begin each morning class
with a detailed demonstration and tasting.
Then all will put on aprons for the hands-on
cooking class that will result in lunch
around the table in the light-infused
dining area. Each meal will be accompanied
by wines from small, quality producers
throughout France, and artisanally produced
cheeses carefully chosen by Mr. Francois
Olivier, fromager in Rouen and Paris.
The week will be filled with the unique
flavors of France, embodied in breads
and cheeses, chocolate and wine, poultry,
meats, seafood, fruits, and vegetables.
Guests will visit artisans and a market,
and will enjoy a meal in a celebrated
Parisian bistro, all with Susan as guide.
Instruction is in English. Recipes are
geared to the home cook. Guests are supplied
with aprons as well as detailed recipe
booklets that are theirs to keep.
Note: Patricia Wells
will not be in attendance at this school.
The
class is limited to 7 guests. The week
begins with class at 10:00 am on Monday
morning and ends after lunch on Friday.
The fee is $3,250 and includes market
visits, all tastings, transportation
for local visits, and all lunches. The
fee does not include dinners or lodging.
(A list of recommended hotels is sent
to enrolled guests.)
DEPOSIT: A non refundable deposit of
$1,500 per person is required to confirm
enrollment.
